The Tradition of Excellence Continues
Most of our graduates are placed in advanced placement courses in high school and do extremely well academically. About 80% of our graduates attend Catholic high schools, while many others attend Wauwatosa East High School or Milwaukee public schools.

Recent graduates include a Pius XI High School valedictorian and salutatorian, two Marquette High School National Merit Finalists and numerous National honor Society members.

Former Seb’s/DSHA student, Katie Shelledy, has received an Honorable Mention designation for her research proposal for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. Katie was chosen from a field for more than 1,000 students from hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide.

Meet a few more of our outstanding graduates.

• Sean Duffy (’00) graduated from the University of Notre Dame, and is presently attending University of Wisconsin Medical College. Sean was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist.
• Michael Hanley, Marquette High School, Jeremy Schmid, Marquette High School, and Erin Burke, Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (’05) were all high school National Merit Scholarship finalist this year. Three students from a small grade school class is a phenomenal achievement!
• Kelsey Hunt (’00) graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. Kelsey played college hockey is currently serving in the Peace Corps.
• Caroline Hagerman(’03) graduated with honors from University School and is now attending M.I.T.
• Michael Hanley, Marquette, Erin Burke and Lily Maguire, DSHA, currently attend Ivy League colleges, Princeton, Yale & Dartmouth respectively.
• Jackie Swietlik(‘03), Karly Swietlik(‘04), Lily Maguire (’06), Annie Barrett(08), Elizabeth Jaskolski(08) & Cecelia Gehred(08) have traveled to our sister community in Teosinte as part of various delegations.
• Brothers John (’06) and Peter (‘08) Zeidler are currently a junior/freshman at the Army Academy in West Point.
• Steve Persch (’99) was named valedictorian of Pius XI High School and attended Northwestern University.
• JoJo Hoffmann (’00) was elected Senior Class President at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School. She played high school rugby and earned a spot on the United States National Rugby Team.

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes the significant achievements of a talented and committed group of individuals. They are individuals who have made significant contributions to new insights, fostering original ideas and searching for added knowledge.

2011 Marianne Symannski Founder and President of Toy Tips publications. Appears on numerous TV shows including Oprah & local news outlets.
2010 Jerry (47) & Margo (49 )Haig Long-time parish supporter & volunteer. Margo is a Forensics coach and Chair of the parish 100th anniversary celebration. 2008 Sue Goeden Current 2nd grade teacher at Sebs
2007 Mary Patricia Voell Long-time parish volunteer & organizer, Mary is responsible for many parish cabaret performances & class reunions. Mary wears so many parish hats, we do not have room to list.
2006 Charles Swain (’40). A graduate who continues to live the mission of St. Sebastian and believes strongly in the value of “good solid educational foundation”
2005 Robert Doucette (‘37) – Robert Doucette is grandfather of present St. Sebastian students, past president of Milwwaukee Insurance and long time supporter of St. Sebastian Parish.
2004 Dolores Knoernschild (’44) – A parishioner who continues to serve her Catholic mission through daily service to the
St. Sebastian community.
2003 Sue Bentfield Olson (’75) – A Red Cross volunteer who organized our school “Noon Nurse” program. Served as two-time Home & School chairperson. Originated our NCEA award-winning Lunch Bunch program.
2002 Maureen Stingl Kostelnik (’69) – Long-time volunteer librarian in our school library and Market Day chairperson.
2001 Tom Barrett (’68) – Mayor of Milwaukee, WI. Former member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
2000 Ginney Haas Pauly (’72) – Long-time active parishioner, cantor, character education leader, retreat leader, school play volunteer
1999 Paul Murphy – son of longtime office aide Evelyn Murphy, Paul is a former West Allis Alderman and now serves as Municipal Judge.
1998 Christy Miller Dombrowski – member of delegation to Teosinte, St. Sebastian sister community in El Salvador.
